The KiTZ hospital team
Our experienced physicians of the Clinic for Pediatrics III - Oncology, Hematology, Immunology and Pulmonology (headed by Prof. Dr. Andreas Kulozik) ensure that the "kids of the KiTZ" are treated according to the latest medical standards.
Well taken care of!
Our outpatient department and oncology nursing staff are also there for the children and their families and are committed to their well-being. The psychosocial team ensures that the children and their families are well cared for beyond medical therapy, supporting the affected families in coping with the cancer and its consequences.
At the Kinderplanet care facility, experienced educators take care of the patients' siblings. The Kinderplanet is supported by the "Aktion für krebskranke Kinder e.V. Heidelberg" (campaign for children with cancer). The clinic school teaches school-age patients in a very empathic way - always taking into account the state of health of the children and cooperating with the home schools. The school is headed by headmistress Sati Cinar.
Progress starts with research
Another important part of the KiTZ is science: more than 160 researchers aim to better understand the molecular mechanisms of childhood carcinogenesis. From their scientific findings, they derive new diagnostic procedures and therapeutic approaches.
