Head of the "Kinderplanet"
Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine
Im Neuenheimer Feld 430
Caring for healthy siblings during the treatment of the sick child in the clinic often poses an additional burden for parents. Therefore, the Center for Child and Adolescent medicine established the day care center "Kinderplanet" (Children's planet) in 1995. Here, directed by Alicia Amberger, professional child care workers and volunteers take care of siblings aged 0-14 years. The "Kinderplanet" is open weekdays from 11:30 pm to 16:30 pm - also during holidays.
Carrier of the "Kinderplanet" is the parents' association "Deutsche Leukämie-Forschungshilfe (DLFH) - Aktion für krebskranke Kinder e.V. - Ortsverband Heidelberg". Under the chairmanship of Stefanie Baldes, the association supports the families of children with cancer by many means, for example with the construction and organization of parents' accommodation, financing the music therapist, massages for parents, and much more. In addition, the "Aktion für krebskranke Kinder e. V." supports research in the field of childhood leukemia and tumors.
