It is assumed that roughly 1000 Ukrainian children with cancer will need a therapy place in Europe. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has already taken over the cross-national coordination so that these patients are evacuated as quickly as possible and cared for in specialized hospitals in Europe.
Of these children and adolescents with cancer, 100 - 200 are expected to be admitted to hospitals in Germany. The nationwide coordination is carried out by the Society for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology (GPOH). The KiTZ takes over the coordination of the hospital network "Southwest".
Over the weekend, many children could be admitted to various pediatric oncology wards throughout Germany, including the KiTZ. At this point, a big thank you to all colleagues throughout Germany, who are involved here!
