At the KiTZ, research groups from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD) work together within the preclinical program (headed by Prof. S. Pfister) to better understand cancer and severe blood diseases. Their aim is to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for pediatric oncology and hematology.
The research groups also belong to the DKFZ division "Pediatric Neurooncology" (headed by Prof. S. Pfister), the clinical cooperation unit "Pediatric Oncology" at DKFZ and UKHD (headed by Prof. O. Witt), the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology of the UKHD (headed by Prof. A. Kulozik), the DKFZ department "Neuroblastomgenetics" (headed by PD F. Westermann) and the DKFZ Division "Pediatric Glioma Research" (headed by Dr. David Jones).
