Young patients at KiTZ

Our patients receive comprehensive outpatient, day-care and inpatient care from the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Heidelberg University Hospital. This includes not only drug therapy, but also stem cell and bone marrow transplantation, efficient and modern radiation therapy, and pediatric surgery.

In the case of bone marrow or blood stem cell transplantation, we work closely with colleagues in the hospital. The special tests required for diagnosis and treatment are carried out by experienced staff in the hematology and molecular genetics laboratory.

Another focus of the KiTZ clinical program is the care of children and adolescents with non-malignant blood disorders. These include anemias, blood coagulation disorders and immune defense disorders.

Our team

An experienced team of pediatric oncologists, carers, nurses and other medical specialists under the direction of Professor Dr. Andreas Kulozik look after the young patients. Treatment is carried out in close cooperation with other medical facilities at Heidelberg University Hospital. If, for example, radiotherapy is required as part of the treatment, KiTZ works together with the Children's HIT, the Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy Center (HIT) for children and adolescents, or can draw on the extensive experience and expertise of the highly specialized tumour surgery team for the treatment of solid tumors.

Where to find us...

Until the currently constructed new building for KiTZ is finished, our patients will continue to receive comprehensive outpatient, day-clinic and inpatient care at the Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Heidelberg University Hospital and the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg.
