The international study "Molecular Neuropathology 2.0" coordinated by Dominik Sturm at KiTZ has contributed to the fact that certain molecular genetic tumor analyses in children with brain tumors are now reimbursed by health insurance companies in Germany.

The Dr. Maresch-Klingehöffer Prize, endowed with € 10,000, has been awarded by the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer since 2008 for the best work by young scientists in the field of pediatric oncology and hematology.

Dominik Sturm studied medicine in Freiburg and Heidelberg and specialized in researching highly aggressive gliomas in children and adolescents in his medical doctoral thesis. Since 2013, he has been a physician in the pediatric oncology department of UKHD, which is part of KiTZ. Among other things, he coordinates the Molecular Neuropathology research program at KiTZ. The aim of the program is to ensure the widespread application and expansion of molecular diagnostic procedures for children and adolescents with cancer.
